Come Experience the Difference”

What does experience the difference mean?

Each pet is given individualized time and given rest or play breaks when needed. We strive to do our very best with each pet. Our goal is to make grooming enjoyable or, at the least, tolerable.

We are always available to show owners proper brushing/combing for their specific pet or recommend shampoos.

Mon.-Fri. 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Sat. 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Our hours do vary depending on our schedule for the day. Occasionally, we have a cancellation.

 Please call for walk-in availability.

Both our dog and cat grooms receive a Report Card for the owners to inform them of coat condition, any medical concerns we noticed, and if fleas or ticks were seen. They are also given a grade from, “A” to, “D.”

If your pet received a “D,” we will most likely recommend oral or full sedation. Both require a wellness exam to insure the health and safety of the pet.

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.s)

1) How long does a groom take?

It can take anywhere from 2-3 hours or as long as 10 hours. The size of the pet, how much hair he/she has, hair condition, and temperament of pet all are variables that effect how long it will take for your pet to be ready to pick up.

2) What vaccines does my cat/dog need to be groomed?

It is N.C. state law that pets have a valid Rabies vaccine. We strongly encourage that your pet stays current on all vaccines for his/her health and safety. The only exception is when a pet is too young to have the Rabies vaccine.

3) My dog/cat is aggressive. Can he/she still be groomed?

We do work with aggressive animals. Each pet is different and may only need a mild sedative to become more relaxed or a stronger form of sedation. Even though we try to avoid sedation, we do realize it is sometimes unavoidable. In that case, your pet will need to be seen by one of our veterinarians for a physical examination to determine the best treatment protocol for your pet.

4) My dog/cat is boarding at Cross Creek Animal Hospital. Can I have he/she groomed?

Depending on the length of time you are boarding your pet, we will gladly accommodate you. Availability varies on amount of time your pet is boarding with us.

5) How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?

We recommend calling one to two weeks in advance of when you would like your pet groomed so that we can ensure the date that you would like. We also offer follow-up appointments so that your pet will be on a set schedule to be groomed. During the spring and summer months, we do book out 3-4 weeks in advance.

6) How often should I have my dog/cat groomed?

We suggest every 4-6 weeks for dogs and every 8-10 weeks for cats. Every pet is different and may need to be groomed on a more or less regular schedule depending on how fast/slow their hair grows.

7) Do you do flea dips?

A dip is for medical conditions of the skin and can only be prescribed by a veterinarian. We use an all-natural, pesticide free shampoo on dogs and cats that we see have fleas. We also carry several options for flea and heartworm prevention which can be purchased at your convenience.

Puppies and Kittens

Just like how our older pets require special care, so do our young ones. Puppies and kittens need extra time due to being excited and hyper. We want their first experience to be a great one so we do give them rest breaks. Their breaks may consist of being played with, pampered, and/or placed in their individual spaces to get accustomed to the environment. Please allow for a later pick up time because we are trying to instill proper, “manners” to benefit them being groomed for many years to come.

Geriatric Pets

As we get older our bodies change and the same is true for our pets. Whether it is due to increased age or medical concerns, some pets need more tender care. This may mean more rest breaks, special play time, and sometimes just more affection. We will do our best to ensure the safety of your pet and make their spa day as stress free as we can. If your dog or cat suffers from joint pain, we allow them to lay down and rest as we work with them. They are pampered with plenty of blankets, fresh water, and bathroom breaks along with frequent monitoring. Unfortunately, there are some pets that become too stressed to be able to be groomed any longer due to age and increased medical conditions. When this happens, we do not want to jeopardize the health of the pet and will be unable to work with them any longer.

Luxury Spa

For shorthaired dogs and cats, we offer the Luxury Spa. It includes all of the things our full Groom does minus clipping hair from the pet. (A potty patch is included as needed.) Shorter haired pets do still shed so we cater to their coats as well.
